Now an ex patient (moved away from the area) - but my experiences with the practice were almost all positive. Not always easy to get an appointment - but in times of need an appointment was made available. Also sometimes delays on appointment times - but then if I needed more time for any reason I was given it without feeling that I needed to hurry or that I was being a nuisance. Drs were willing to take the time to explain reasons for their decisions/impact of treatments etc. & to badger other services on my behalf. Met with trainee Drs on a couple of occasions (having been asked first) - happy to see that the Drs there were willing to get involved in training & also encouraging involvement in various research programmes at the medical research dept at Newcastle. Not perfect - but that would have made me uncomfortable.

First time dealing with Lorraine Dodd. I found her professional, punctual, helpful. All in all a good experience.

Burn Brae really is an outstanding surgery. Excellent GPs who listen and seem to genuinely care, with the possible exception of Dr Shovlin, who I find a little too 'clinical'. The reception staff are generally good although there have been a couple of times I've had to wait for them to finish a conversation with one another before they acknowledge my presence. Overall, though, given what I hear about other people's experiences at other surgeries, I am really pleased to be a Burn Brae patient.

I have only been a patient at Burn brae for a short while, however I have always had excellently informed treatment where my decisions and input has been honoured. An appointment has always been available for my needs. I think the surgery has their service just right.

All of the staff that I've had contact with are pleasant, courteous and helpful. The appointment system is well designed and seems to function well despite the busyness of the practice. All of the health care professional's that I've had appointments with have discussed things with me, explaining both their reasoning and advice as well as giving me opportunities to discover more or disagree. Overall, it's an excellent practice.
