I suffer with various mental health conditions so certain things can be very difficult for me. Every member of staff at Bodnant surgery that I have had the pleasure of meeting and talking to have supported me more than I have ever been supported before by any other surgery. I cannot speak highly enough of them they are literally changing lives for the better on a daily basis with their kind, caring, supportive, professional, non judgemental approach to patient care. I have read some negative reviews on their website and I have to say that my experience has been the complete opposite, I guess some people are impatient and don't like the word no. I would highly recommend Bodnant Surgery.
Every single time I phone the surgery for anything (even if it is as simple as querying when my prescription would be ready for collection - I am very busy as well as studying, it helps to plan the rest of my week), I am always spoken to very rudely and abruptly. There is no respect or kindness in the way I am spoken to on the phone. For the automated message to request that we speak to staff with respect is a long-shot. Absolutely no need for it. As well as this, I have requested a repeat prescription before and waited for over a week for it to be done as the receptionists claimed that I hadn't put it in and were again rude and disrespectful when I gave them the specific date that I had come in to put it in. When this happened, I got pretty much interrogated as to why I was putting my prescription back in as I had X amount on my last one and I had to explain to someone who is actually UNDERQUALIFIED to even query that.
"Why are you putting it back in. You had X amount of tablets in your last prescription. Where have they gone?"
They are not in a position to ask that. If a medical professional had asked, then I would answer, but being interrogated by receptionists is not okay - puts people off even wanting to phone at the risk of speaking to someone like this.
The worst receptionists I’ve ever encountered. The manager should be looked into and ultimately sacked as well as the whole team. They are rude, aggressive, abrupt and overall unqualified for their roles. Such a shame they let the entire surgery down. From reading the other reviews it’s clear what the issue is in this surgery. They incompetent and seem to think they are qualified to hand out medical advice as though they are Dr’s themselves. They can’t keep records or communicate with their patients. Shocking a full formal investigation should take place.
I have been with the surgery for over 30 years never have I found it so difficult to get an appointment as of recently. In the last 3 years I have managed to get an appointment twice. The last time I rang to pre book in 2 weeks I was told ' there are no available appointments for over 4 weeks '. How on earth are you supposed to get an appointment, if you physically need a doctor to look at something a phone consultation is ridiculous. My daughter has left the surgery after 31 years as they don't do 6 week check ups after giving birth anymore, her midwife told her she had to have one, so she moved. I am seriously thinking about doing the same. I do not recommend this surgery.
I cannot believe what has happened to this surgery since COVID. I am disabled and housebound, but the mistakes being made on my repeat prescriptions are ridiculous. Running out of ‘controlled’ drugs because of their errors is unacceptable. Why stop them without requesting a review first? Then when I request a telephone review I’m told the nearest appointment is three weeks away. There is even more to this story but I could be here all day explaining it! As Bangor only has two surgeries to choose from now (and the other has bad reviews too) what choice do we have? I will be moving after Christmas after this latest debacle though.
