There needs to be a 'call-waiting' system on the phones, it is so difficult to get through on the phones on the morning, it would be much easier to have a queue system.

Can always get a same day appointment if required but can be very difficult to get either a same day appointment or routine appointment with the doctor I prefer to see to ensure continuity of care and who is the most knowledgeable with regards to my medical history and treatment. Advice is to ring after lunchtime unless you want a same day appointment, however, it can take a long time for the call to be answered and I may have to ring several times before I get a response. Staff are always polite, pleasant and helpful. The surgery is excellent and everyone does a fantastic job despite the pressures the NHS faces. Love the online system too. Would like to see more of this.

Same day appointments can usually be made by telephoning at 8.30 a.m., though on any one day the number of doctors available is necessarily limited; to get an appointment with one particular doctor one may have to wait a few days. Telephone consultations can usually be arranged within a few days. Patients with restricted mobility can normally have a home visit. Over the years I have seen most of the doctors in the practice and have found each of them careful, considerate and well-informed. All this seems to me most satisfactory.

I have been very satisfied with the way this practice is run. It’s usually easy to get a same-day appointment, and now that I’m old and find it difficult to get out of the house I have several times had home visits. The doctors are friendly and seem concerned to do their best for you. Improvements? Maybe a queueing system for calling by phone. And they should update their web site more frequently. I’m still listed as being under the care of a doctor who retired more than a year ago.

When phoning at 8.30 am for an appointment, I have to ring constantly for over 20 minutes before getting an answer. This happens all the time. (Is there anyone there to answer the phone?) For me, the alternative to this is to travel to the practice by either driving there (my bus pass does not start until 9.30) for 8.30am thus adding to the pollution, or pay for a bus journey. When arriving at the practice, I have to stand in a queue in all winds and rain and even snow sometimes, until the doors open. I am 75, I do not need all this hassle! This is totally unacceptable.
