Recently, I had a cystoscopy procedure carried out at Woodlands Hospital. I found Mr Simon Fulford had very poor bedside manner, firstly, as it took him approx. 1 min to introduce him to me when entering the patients room. He is a man of little correspondence with his patience, as well of a lack of information on what my problem may be causing me. He didn't seem to be concerned on my problems I was having, as he had a attitude of couldn't be bothered. He was also like this when I had a telephone consultation which I wasn't impressed. During the procedure in theatre, he was fairly rough as he thrust the camera like a rat up a drainpipe. Hardly any information was forth coming through the procedure. Once completed, again I asked him what may be the cause while in the operating theatre. Just a one line response that didn't satisfy me & this was the last correspondence I had from him. When back in my hospital room, the nurse informed me that he signed me off, no further communication from Mr Fulford. I wanted to see if there could be further tests that he could done etc. No chance to see him. For the next 2 days I was in severe pain when urinating. I had this procedure done 5 years ago by another consultant & never had this issue. He obviously scrapped the inside of the urethra due to him thrusting the camera inside. I will never go back to this consultant. He needs to improve his bedside manner vastly & to be retrained in this field. On a positive note, the hospital & nurses were great, no complaint there.

It's possible we caught him on a bad day, but he was very stressed and dismissive, with no compassion or helpful advice. He could probably do with a holiday. He might need to consider a career break or change if he is struggling so much in his current role as he did share with us.
