Rob is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead. He graduated from Newcastle University Medical School in 2006 and completed his Foundation Programme in Gateshead. Rob continued his core and specialist surgical training in the Northern Deanery, rotating around largest Breast Screening Units in the North East of England. Rob gained a wealth of clinical experience in oncoplastic breast surgery during his training, including the use of Radioactive Iodine Seeds to localise and excise breast tumours. He has presented both nationally and internationally on this subject. More recently, Rob was the first surgeon in the United Kingdom to introduce Radiofrequency Identification Tags, which are radiation-free, to localise breast tumours. He believes in offering patients breast conservation surgery whenever possible and regularly uses Local Flap Volume Replacement and Breast Reduction techniques to allow patients to avoid mastectomy . When mastectomy is indicated, he will always discuss breast reconstruction options. Rob has a passion for Education and Training and a keen interest in Surgical Research.
