About 7 weeks ago I did one of the stick pooh tests that are sent out
Shortly after returning it I was asked to attend the hospital for a colonoscopy where the test revealed I had bowel cancer
I was so shocked as I had not had any real symptoms or felt unwell at all
Within a week or so I was invited to meet Mr Abeed Cowdhury at his clinic where he explained my condition and the procedure he intended to implement to rid me of my condition.
He is a very confident and well spoken surgeon who put me at ease from the start and even cracked a few jokes which also was settling (in my case)
Abeed told me in great detail about the procedure he was planning using the robot technology he has available
The procedure was to take place on Thursday 4th September 2025
On the day I went into the ward and everything happened so quickly what with staff wanting blood and signing forms and answering lots of questions I didn't have time to think about what was about to happen
I was pushed to the theatre and given all the relevant "knock out" medication and woke up several hours later minus part of my bowel
From the moment I awoke my care was absolutely excellent
All the staff were very caring and understanding and I felt as though I was the only patient they had
My stomach was very uncomfortable for about 5 days and the 6 entry point from the robot were a little sore, however the only pain relief I required was a couple of paracetamol a couple of times a day for about a week or so
This I feel bears great testament to the skills and confidence of a fantastic surgeon and his team
I will be forever indebted to this man and cannot thank him enough for giving me another chance of a longer life THANK YOU SIR For everything
Mr Chowdhury was very supportive, attentive and caring throughout my treatment for bowel cancer and afterwards. He is such a lovely man and before my operation gave my confidence a boost and assured me that I would make a quick recovery (which I have). Cannot praise him enough!!!
