Dr Bargiotas is an excellent colleague and trainer of junior doctors. He is a skilled and thorough clinician, and shows a great deal of compassion for his patients.

I saw Dr Bargiotas at my local NHS outpatient clinic. I have a long history of anxiety and was understandably nervous before the consultation. Dr Bargiotas personally came and collected me from the waiting area and greeted me in a welcoming and friendly manner. He has a naturally calm disposition and automatically makes you feel at ease. He spent more than an hour and a half going through every detail ranging from clinical history to pharmacology. He actively listened to me with interest and compassion. Clearly a highly intelligent individual able to effortlessly identify the root of the problem. Truly one of the most professional consultants I’ve ever met. I would highly recommend Dr Bargiotas to anyone suffering with mental health issues.

I saw Dr Bargiotas today as an outpatient. I was quite worried in advance of the appointment as I have seen a significant number of psychiatrists at this location, not all of whom have been entirely sympathetic or helpful. I was waiting outside listening to music through headphones as I am both autistic and have severe social anxiety. Dr Bargiotas came out to collect me. From the outset he was clearly a very considerate and amenable person and in total contrast to my concerns I instantly felt at ease around him, such was his friendly and professional manner. He discussed some concerns about other professionals attending my appointment which I had raised in advance and put my mind at rest but made it clear that it was my decision whether or not they attended, and ushered me to one side in case I answered in the negative so that I wouldn't have a potentially awkward situation. When the appointment itself did commence I found him to be very thorough and professional, asking extensive questions about my background but not simply for their own sake but was clearly building up a progressively clear picture, asking for clarification every step of the way. He did so with utmost courtesy and showed great deal of sympathy and understanding, and was cautious when he needed to be. And most importantly, he listened. He carefully considered my needs and what I wanted and balanced them with what I actually needed. I felt he did so with a great deal of skill. I came away from the appointment feeling reassured, uplifted and that some sort of progress had been made, something which had actually stalled for rather a long time with my treatment prior to seeing him. I would recommend Dr Bargiotas to anybody. He is an excellent doctor, being knowledgeable, professional and compassionate, and he is a very good listener.

I was referred this doctor. I was suffering from extreme anxiety as the result of a series of events, some abusive and sexual by nature. There was a common thread between events but I couldn't be sure they were linked, this fed the anxiety. I wanted answers, clarification, closure and some people held to account. To make matters worse I was also recovering from a life threatening illness. I am open and honest by nature and was very happy to discuss what had happened how I felt and my concerns. To begin with he asked questions, I responded and he was happy with my answers but he was like a snake luring me in. Suddenly he began shouting, then he would stop, then start again. There were insults and impertinent questions e.g. perhaps I deserved to be abused. His nurse side-kick sniggered and belittled my every response - part of their tactic. I endured this for an hour at a time over 2/3 sessions. Due this strategy I was never able to give my full story, he just had excerpts in no particular order and the painful stuff was never discussed. I was disgusted with him and the nurse. I came away feeling substantially worse, nothing was achieved, it was a nightmare, waste of time and money. It still makes me feel angry thinking about it. When he offered counselling I refused. So damaging were their vile tactics, all trust was lost. They had to be joking if they thought I could bring myself to trust their counsellors. I was not going to endure more of the same. Instead I used a mobile app called Headspace to reduce my anxiety together with Kalms Lavender tablets. It has largely worked. Their strategy was sick and wrong. They should have listened to me fully, offered help and coping strategies. Instead they acted like a pair of bullies. Let's kick somebody when they are down shall we? Another patient in this situation might be pushed over the edge. Unprofessional! Makes people feel worse!.

I was referred to the good Doctor to be assessed and treated for ADHD. What he has done for me has changed my life, I cannot thank him enough.
