Both my wife & I have visited Dr Merrifield for too many (!) issues over several years now & we've both been glad to have been seen by him. He's always polite & cheerful, kind & considerate, seems genuinely concerned about you & your situation, listens patiently & asks pertinent questions. He explains the reason for his diagnoses & any necessary referrals or treatments, & makes sure you know what's happening to you. In short, an excellent GP - thoroughly recommended!

Dr Merrifield is very thorough, knowledgeable and friendly. My wife and I are always at ease and know we can totally rely on his advice and recommendations. This is particularly important at our time in life when having entered retirement age for some years previous unknown ills and pains seem to appear with frightening regularity. Dr Merrifield is always sympathetic and dispenses the necessary treatment promptly. It is very comforting indeed to know such a gem of a GP and that we can power on to meet any of life's health challenges on the way.

I have seen Dr Merrifield over a period of about 15 months. He is a real pleasure to deal with: always approachable, informative and ready to explain things. He is both knowledgeable about issues relevant to my medical condition, and about who best to refer to for specialist advice, both within and beyond the surgery. He is keen to get to the root of medical problems, and to do his best to resolve them.

Saw him first time as I was prone to cystitis and I had another infection. These are bacterial infections and require antibiotics. Despite this I was sent home with only advice of drinking water (pratronising me like if I was a complete idiot!) and ended up with the infection spreading to one kidney (not the 1st time). Second visit I had first a consultation over the phone. My finger was swelling up over night and was extremely painful. It calmed down but occurred once again few days later. I was under a lot of stress at the time. He diagnosed an infection and gave me antibiotics. As it happens, it was not an infection but the start of arthritis. Clueless! Won't see him again, I'd rather pay for private GP.
