I have been treated by Dr Murli Krishna and his team as an NHS patient since 2014 for severe migraine (regular Botox injections), and since 2018 for severe back pain (Radio Frequency Lesioning/Denervation). My migraines were so severe that they made me feeling suicidal at times. Migraine attacks could last between 6 hours up to 3 days, often on a pain scale of 8-10 of 10. Conventional treatment by strong opioid pain-relievers seemed to have worked for a limited time only -- in fact, it had increased the frequency/severity of my migraine attacks. Once referred to the Pain Clinic by my GP, I have tried other treatments such as TENS, acupuncture, and CBT, but those have not worked for me at all; CBT merely equipped me with an insight into workings of pain on theoretical basis only. Dr Krishna suggested trying regular Botox injections as per protocol, repeated every 3-4 months, and I haven't looked back since. Although migraines have not completely disappeared, they were much less frequent, and much less severe. Without an exaggeration, a true lifesaver - I am still here to tell the tale. Suffering from severe neuropathic pain (on account of inherited Charcot-Marie-Tooth), and having survived with severe back pain, on Dr Krishna's suggestion, I am very happy to have tried Radio Frequency Lesioning (Denervation), also known as Permanent Nerve Block. First of all, there was a trial run of Temporary Nerve Block to see whether I would actually benefit from this. Luckily, it worked for me, so Dr Krishna could proceed with the actual denervation procedure. The NHS pays for this treatment once every 16 months - and since it gave me first 16 months of successful pain relief, I am now about to undergo next treatment. Dr Krishna has always treated me as a patient with utmost care, respect, and professionalism. He understood how dehumanising the experience of chronic severe pain can be, and focused on getting me better. For this I shall be always grateful. A big "Thank you, Dr K.!".
