Without this cardiologist my daughter wouldn’t have been born and she has survived against all odds. The Best Paediatric cardiologist!

We met Dr Walayat for the first time in October 2006 after my son's heart crashed (luckily in Yorkhill A&E) at 8 days old, due to 3 undiagnosed heart defects. He has looked after my son (and family) for the past nearly 12 years. He has a great bond with my son and has always had Ruari's best interests at heart. We respect his vast experience dealing with cardiac children and their families and appreciate his firm belief that the children should be allowed to have as normal a life as possible. He will tell you what you need to know and I believe he would rather you do not spend your life worrying about your child, as far as that is possible with a cardiac child. We have always found him a caring doctor, always contactable via the secretaries if you have concerns. We appreciate his sense of humour, his desire for Ruari to have a normal life and his dedication to keeping Ruari in the best of health. We will miss him when Ruari moves into the adult hospital. my daughter has been under the care of Dr Walayat since before she was born 2 and half years ago, we first met him when i was 6 months pregnant when my daughter was diognosed with chd in the utero, Dr Walayat was very honest and gave us all the information we needed to no everything he prepared us for was absolutley spot on, he comes across as a very quite cardioligist he will only talk about what he feels is relivant which yes for us parents we would like to more about what is going on with our childrens hearts, but his knowledge and his many years of experiance comforts me to know my daughter is in the most experianced cardioligist care and we have always felt her health has always been a priority to him he can remember things about her at the top of his head without looking at her medical notes which is quite impressive to say he cares for allot of patients and my daughter is only 1 out of many hundreds of his patients... i have much deep respect and admiration for dr walayat and also my daughters heart surgeons mr andrew mclean and mr mark danton without these very skilled people i wouldnt be lucky enough to still have my daughter here today.. forever grateful to these cardiologist and surgeons,

I totally agree with Kevin Gardiner's Mums comment. My son has also been seen by Dr Walayat for approx 14 years and today was his last appointment at the Childrens hospital in Aberdeen as he is moving to the Adult hospital. I think he's an amazing man who has quite a dry sense of humour. I have very much admiration for him along with the amazing Mr K MacArthur who did both my son's surgeries. I found it quite sad today that this was his last appointment with him but was reassured if I had any problems to contact him. He is a very busy man and I'm grateful he has helped keep my son in good health the last 17 years. Connor Wilson's Mum (Aberdeen)

Just read somebody's review of Dr Walayat and have to disagree!! Aloof is the word I would use to describe him. This man has been my son Kevin's heart consultant for nearly 13yr. At first I thought he was a little bit unempathetic but came to realise that this is a very busy man. In fact I like his direct nature and no sugar coating attitude!! I actually find him amusing, think he's just dry and very aloof!! He's always been straight to the point, no messing and I like that. I have the utmost respect for this man and my sons surgeon, Mark Danton!! Infact I'd go as far to say I've got a lot of love for them and the work they do!! Laurie Donald Kevin Gardiners mum
