I saw Dr Mulcahy as a rapid referral following a foot injury. The nurse at my local GP failed to spit a 3 cm splinter in my foot and when they did the wound was not healing. My referral was quick, efficient and timely. Dr Mulcahy has an excellent team in the Diabetic Foot Clinic invluding podiatrists, , nursing sisters, nurses snd HCAs that are as committed and professional as he is. Dr Mulcahy treats the person snd the condition and not just the symptom. He reviewed and changed my medications and explained it all to me. With his help and support my blood sugars are much better and no more foot issues. A truly wonderful ambassador for the National Health Service and medicine.

Went to Basildon Hospital by appointment with diabetes related, non-healing foot injury. Saw very nice staff who concluded that I needed a toe joint amputation. Called Dr Mulcahy into clinic, very pleasant, agreed with diagnosis. Offered to do it there and then. Successful operation. He also changed my drugs to more suitable ones. What more can you ask.

I waited for months to see a consultant in endocrinology. My appointment was postponed and then several messages to remind me Dr Mulcahy would call on the phone me at a specified date and time. The good doctor did not pick up the phone to call nor ask a staff member to call me and advise that he had decided what needed to be done without even bothering to ask me a question. He has relied on the GP's brief letter to decide what treatment I should have. How can you trust a consultant who does not appear to believe that a patient needs be consulted and give consent to the treatment he alone had deemed I should have.
