Dr M Beebeejaun is one of the best doctors I have met so far in Mauritius regards to detecting and treatment of diabetes. From a professional perspective, she has gone in depth to make sure that there is a holistic review of the situation, has taken time to consult, asked questions and probed to know about the history of patient. Firstly no doctor tried to understand the type of diabetes I had or explained about the carb counts etc secondly, her patience to listen is incredible. The first thing I appreciated is her welcoming on my first visit. She listens. She shows empathy. First time for me to have a doctor who writes clear instructions (apart from prescribed medicines) and contact via email for self-care at home and also, most important, above the positive human approach, the results about my health issue since my last visit are positive. I was diagnosed with high BP recently and as I am also a diabetic,I was admitted in a clinic and Dr.Beebeejaun was called upon to follow up on my condition.In a situation like this,one is of course morally quite devastated ,however after having been consulted and received her advice I felt very relieved.So much so that I remained her patient.Her understanding upon my health condition is thorough as she takes time to understand my health history and the environment in which I evolve.Besides the fact that her prescribed medication works,she also uses available communication technology to follow up after physical consultation.I also appreciated her action plan which she works out with clear guidelines and hand over to her patients for personal follow up prior to the next consultation. I sincerely believe that besides mastering her subjects,she has brought a touch of modernity in the way doctors treat their patients and hopefully others will emulate her and revolutionise the medical scene in Mauritius.
