Dr Camilleri listened well and appeared thorough in examination. He responded promptly, copying me in to the letter to my G.P. which followed the next day.

I was extremely nervous about my appointment before coming in but I didn’t need to be. I felt Dr Camilleri listened to me and didn’t dismiss my symptoms as I have experienced in the past. He took the time to listen to my medical history and I was very happy with my experience. I came out with a lot of answers as to why I have struggled for such a long time.

Dr Camilleri kept to the appointment time at Spire Hospital (30 mins). He listened carefully during the consultation and took extensive notes of my recent medical history and gave me an examination to better understand my condition (polymyalgia rheumatica)

A good listener, empathetic and holistic in his approach to health and well-being. Often a rarity in traditional medical models of health. Personally I thought the care given was excellent, thank you.

  • Rheumatology

Profile

I started training in rheumatology as a part of my general medical training at The Royal London Hospital and Newham General Hospital between 1987 and 1989. I was then appointed as Senior Registrar in rheumatology in Cardiff from 1989 to 1995. During this time I obtained a clinical fellowship for two years research into experimental treatments for inflammatory arthritis.

I was appointed Consultant Rheumatologist in 1995 and worked in the East Glamorgan and Llwynpia Hospitals before relocating to Cardiff and Vale Healthboard where I worked as a consultant for 22 years. I was the lead for paediatric rheumatology and saw paediatric patients from the whole of South Wales.

My training background includes diagnosis and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, sports related injuries and soft tissue rheumatism. My main special interest is in connective tissue diseases and paediatric rheumatology.
