Dr Tol is such a lovely kind and thorough anaesthetist. He was the anaesthetist looking after my son who has complex medical issues. My son reacted to a very small amount of anaesthetic and Dr Tol did what he needed to do to ensure my son was safe. I put him right at the top of the list of people I trust to look after my precious boy!!

I underwent pituitary surgery in June 2019 at Salford Royal Hospital. Dr Tol was my anaesthetist. When he saw me before the operation I noticed how thorough he was in his questioning. He took his time. I suffered many complex symptoms due to my tumour and am sure that some of them must have affected my ability to cope with an anaesthetic. I had the opportunity to discuss specific concerns with him. In particular I had had an anaesthetic some years ago which had not gone well (I had been paralysed a few seconds before I lost consciousness). This had been very frightening. Dr Tol was very reassuring and when it came to the anaesthetic, he used some sort of pre-med that made me feel extremely relaxed and cheerful, for which I am very thankful. I was also concerned about my eyes, which get dry and sore due to tear duct blockage. Dr Tol ensured that he used extra eye gel to protect my eyes during the quite long anaesthetic, and I therefore suffered no ill effects My third concern was that I can be very sick after anaesthesia. On this occasion Dr Tol ensured that this did not happen. In fact I was eating a meal within an hour of leaving the recovery room. Dr Tol made a potentially frightening experience relatively easy, and truly listened to me. I am only sorry that I did not have the chance to thank him afterwards. I highly recommend him.
