Written by a carer at The John Radcliffe
29th April 2016

I am a retired GP and my wife Sue developed a rare kind of life-threatening bowel obstruction 10 days ago. Dimitra Volanaki was the locum surgeon on duty at the John Radcliffe Hospital. In the middle of the night she assessed my wife and communicated with me very clearly and honestly before and after the four-hour operation she carried out in the early hours. It was a difficult procedure but has had an excellent outcome. I would like to express our great and lasting thanks to her.
