Doctor link works well, but only for patients who are used to doing things on line. System then falls down badly, no response was received from the surgery to book a doctor's appointment. I had to 'phone the surgery to discover the time of a video appointment. When I received the pre-appointment message for me to set up video link, there was not enough time before the person called. This was not a Doctor, but a post graduate who took details and then had to ask a doctor's advice, telling me that I would be contacted by the surgery to have a face to face consultation with a doctor. Again no contact was made by the surgery so I had to phone to get an appointment. I had to travel to Sutton Benger Surgery 13 miles away for this appointment. Dr Bartlett then told that I should get another appointment with Dr Bowen at Beversbrook Surgery on Tuesday. No contact was made by the surgery, so I again phoned and was told that they couldn't give me an appointment time until Tuesday. I then asked to speak to the Practice Manager. I was put through to a patient co-ordinator who said he would book me in for an appointment on Monday afternoon at 3pm, but it would have to be a video appointment. Dr. Bowen 'phoned me on Monday on my landline - not a video call. After a conversation with him he booked me in himself to see him at 9am on Tuesday. If you are ill you need to feel you are being cared for, you do not need all this unnecessary delay and worry. The system is very cumbersome and extremely time wasting for both patients and doctors.

To say I am devastated is an understatement for I learned this afternoon that the nicest, most understanding doctor (sorry Dr Searle!!) - Dr. David Bowen - is retiring next month. Of course, I wish him all the peace and joy of retirement (especially long lie-in's!), sunny days of golfing or tennis and not having to listen to the interminable whinging of us lot. Seriously, my husband Alan and I have found his advice, his great ability to listen often over-running his appointments, his smile whilst summoning you for your appointment and being the first to admit to not knowing everything and reaching for one of his huge medical or pharmaceutical books. But, overall I shall remember his kindness and this news - although marvellous for the great man himself and his family - is quite a profound shock. We wish him everything he wishes for himself in retirement. Our very best wishes, Helen and Alan

I have already written a long review which I’m sure you don’t want me to repeat! I have always been treated with the utmost care and kindness by the doctors and receptionists at this surgery. Thank you all very much.

Dr Bowen has been my GP since I left the forces 6 years ago. He has been a tremendous help and has seemingly unlimited patience. I have had many different problems as I moved into civilian life and Dr Bowen has made this process much much easier than it may have otherwise been. An incredibly knowledgeable and experienced GP he always knows when to talk and when to listen which is a skill that cannot be taught. I would say without a doubt Dr Bowen is an absolutly first class GP and I would recommend him to anyone.

The consultation was done over the phone Dr Bowen was patient and caring, Our Sutton Benger surgery has a pharmacy so I was able to get my ointment quickly. I did not have to go into the surgery as there is a system of receiving prescriptions through the window. This works very well. Enid Baldwin
