To say I am devastated is an understatement for I learned this afternoon that the nicest, most understanding doctor (sorry Dr Searle!!) - Dr. David Bowen - is retiring next month. Of course, I wish him all the peace and joy of retirement (especially long lie-in's!), sunny days of golfing or tennis and not having to listen to the interminable whinging of us lot. Seriously, my husband Alan and I have found his advice, his great ability to listen often over-running his appointments, his smile whilst summoning you for your appointment and being the first to admit to not knowing everything and reaching for one of his huge medical or pharmaceutical books. But, overall I shall remember his kindness and this news - although marvellous for the great man himself and his family - is quite a profound shock.
We wish him everything he wishes for himself in retirement.
