Dr Anton is fantastic. He understands everything completely. He explains everything very well. I wonder of some of these reviews where I've seen Dr A has a poor rating is that sometimes patients just won't help themselves. I had a friend under him, and that person did nothing he suggested yet wasn't honest to him about it. He is, without doubt, one of the few doctors I have that I have complete Faith in, and would trust and follow his advice to the letter.

I saw Dr Emmanuel and he was patronising, did not offer to listen properly, did not offer me further tests to get to the root of my problems and I was sent away with a sorry handshake, still in horrendous pain. I wanted to ask about another test, but we were interrupted by him answering his phone, telling someone what to do and to watch the cost due to....funding!! I continue to be in pain and if one test I had was inconclusive, and indeed a other basic investigations I had done, there were others I had not had done, but was told he doubted very much they would prove anything, and for psychological reasons, would not want to do them to raise my hopes of getting a negative answer. I am not absorbing my foods properly, I was losing weight, in great burning pain still in my abdomen, and my bowels are really badly constipated..having been told last year in May I have severe colonic transit and being refused anymore tests to check for worsening bowel disorder...which it has got a lot worse...and for emptying of the stomach as I swell so bad and am in so much pain especially by the evening. I go to bed screaming a lot. It has got so bad my life is on hold. . Yet I am told it is probably nerve damage. Despite telling him not one nerve pain medication helps. He did not know what was causing my odd symptoms. I left and just sobbed. He may be brilliant, but not for me. He was looking tired and did not like my questioning attitude I felt, and spoke to me as though I were stupid and it was all in my mind. I am devastated by his attitude...and am not alone. He was unshaven, scruffy too and he himself looked exhausted..but I am screaming in pain most evenings still...nerve medication makes it worse. I went to him as I thought he was tip top and keen to "always learn". I do not think so at all.

Expensive, does not listen to your problems, hostile, told me I need surgery to have a bag and when given second opinions by other specialists they were shocked to hear this advice.

I have been a patient of Dr Emmanuels for approx a year and a half. He has changed my life, he is kind, caring and listened to what I had been going through. I was referred to him by another neurologist and can honestly say that once I had seen him I actually felt that someone was going to help. I now visit the GI unit at UCLH for treatment every two weeks by his team. I can honestly say that I have never been treated with more care and respect at an NHS hospital - Dr Emmanuel and his team are not only excellent at their jobs but treat you with great care and respect.

I made an appointment with Dr Emmanuel after referred to him by another specialist. I really have not been well and looked forward to receiving help. I am shocked and appalled by this man. During my first appointment with him, while I was listening to his diagnoses he said 'Are you listening to me? You are coming off as extremely hostile and angry'. Needless to say this was entirely inappropriate, vindictive and unprofessional. I went on to reassure him that I was not feeling hostile at all but taken aback at what he had said. A few minutes later he then again, patronizingly looks at me with raised eyebrows 'are you listening?'. If you want to receive a character analysis visit Dr Emmanuel.
