Written by a NHS patient at Arrowe Park Dental Practice <1>
10th March 2016

My son had a nasty fall at school which resulted in trauma to his mouth, first of all we couldn't get an appointment with our own dentist until 3pm, I was 10:30am he was in pain and distressed so I took the decision to take him to the walk in at Mill Lane, where they told us they couldn't do anything for him and to take home to Arrowe Park, we arrived at Arrowe Park and had to wait to be seen by a doctor for two hours, he wanted to send us away to see our own dentist by I explained by this point I would not get to see my dentist till the following day, my son at this stage was still in a lot of discomfort and very distressed, with this in mind the doctor reluctantly rang the maxi facial dept where Dr Ahaiku came to see him, she X rayed him and explained his injuries in great length but was so kind and caring towards my son whilst doing this, she also explained that we should be in the care of our own dentist but understood that Theo couldn't be left overnight in the state he was in. He had one of his front teeth completely snapped off and the other was hanging by a thread!! His mouth was blood stained and Dr Ahaiku went above and beyond her duty of care to find the right equipment and a room suitable to help patch him up until we could see our dentist the next morning. She was amazing with him extremely caring and gentle with a very frightened little boy. He has lost both his front teeth but Dr Ahaiku explained future treatments and what things we could expect for the future. Before meeting her yesterday I had felt a little let down by the care my son was receiving but Dr Ahaiku was exemplary in her care and I can safely say she is one of the best doctors I have ever had the pleasure of being in the care of. My sincere thanks to you Dr Ahaiku, best of wishes in your future career. Wendy Jones

Profile

My name is Sefa and welcome to my page. I would love to hear your feedback.

About Me

My passion is restorative dentistry - creating and refreshing smiles. It is what I fell in love with at dental school and what I'm doing my masters in. There is so much art involved in creating a smile and I love watching it come to life one piece at a time. Smiles change lives and I have seen that happen time and time again.

In addition to this, I really enjoy working with anxious patients to help them cope with receiving basic and, over time, elective care. I feel my personal interest in psychology, and in particular the area of mental health, has helped me develop a set of skills that work really well for my patients.
