I really appreciated Sairanne Wickers taking the time to explain the Fast Forward Trial and why she is recommending I have 5 days' radiotherapy. Sairanne took time to answer all my questions, described in detail what radiotherapy will involve (including drawing a very helpful diagram) and by the end of the consultation I felt confident that this is the best way forward. Also it's a relief that I will only need 5 days of treatment. Since I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer, different lengths of radiotherapy have been talked about, from three weeks to six weeks. After talking to Sairanne, I was reassured that 5 days will offer protection from a recurrence of breast cancer. She explained this in detail. I had to finish weekly chemo sessions early (Paclitaxel) because of my low platelet count. Sairanne took the time to look at my most recent blood results and went to the breast oncology department to ask if there would be any further treatment for the low platelets. I very much appreciate her taking the time to do this because, as she said, that is not her specialty. Having spoken to Sairanne, I am no longer dreading radiotherapy. I feel I have a good grasp of what it will entail. I am very much looking forward to completing this last stage of my treatment. A big thank you to Sairanne.
