By far the best physio I have ever seen. Firstly she knows what CRPS is and knows what to do with it! An actual miracle. She always listens and understands what I'm going through and sets up a plan and treatments that actually help. Will always ask for Lucy

Lucy was extremely professional and knowledgeable, and was happy to answer all my questions/ explained everything thoroughly. She made me feel comfortable and cared for. I've tried many other treatments and physiotherapists/specialists, but have seen the most progress and improvement in my symptoms throughout and since our sessions. Thank you for all your help!

i suffer with C.R.P.S. Lucy understood my condition and the fact she knew what a spinal cord stimulator was !!! in the last year I've been to 3 different physio's each one didn't understand my condition or my stimulator finally i met Lucy today it was refreshing to see progress and a regime in place to help me get back to some sort of normality ,( at last ) . would recommend anyone with a long term pain condition to see her

Profile

Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist

Lucy Cowans qualified as a chartered Physiotherapist in 2000. After working in London for 4 years in a variety of settings she relocated to the Isle of Wight. Whilst in London she was particularly drawn to musculoskeletal injuries, and interested in the wide range of responses that patients could have to injuries and treatments. This stimulated an interest in the field of pain and since 2006 she has specialised in the treatment of chronic pain in adults.
Lucy works with patients individually or as part of a multidisciplinary team. She also runs the Isle of Wight Pain Management Programme which helps patients with pain to manage and understand their condition.
She specialises in the treatment of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), Fibromyalgia, and back pain, using a variety of treatment techniques as appropriate such as manual therapy, exercise prescription, graded motor imagery, acupuncture and cognitive behavioural therapy.
Lucy has a post graduate certificate in CBT for long term conditions and is a registered supplementary prescriber. She regularly attends training courses and is completing an MSc in Physiotherapy and Education.
