I was privileged to be looked after by specialist nurse Sharon Beale for my Trial Without Catheter appointment three days after my Transurethral Prostatectomy (TURP) at Lymington Hospital, Hants. I was apprehensive about filling myself up with liquid to see how well I could urinate without a catheter, which had proved to be a lifeline leading up to my surgery. There was a lot at stake. But Sharon provided me with a gold star service. She called me the day before my appointment and explained what would happen during my visit. On the day of the appointment I arrived 30mins early at 07:30hrs but Sharon welcomed me into her consulting room. My catheter was removed amid lots of chatty conversation and without me realising she had removed it. Two tests followed to ensure I was able to urinate and clear virtually all my bladder. Sharon was reassuring throughout and ready to answer all my questions. I have received outstanding care from everyone at Lymington Hospital, which concluded with Sharon saying I was good to go. Sharon exemplified the service and care I have received throughout. Top marks Sharon and the outstanding NHS Team.
