I was discharged but never told. Over a year elapsed and I never knew. I only found out when I went for an annual check-up. They knew, my GP knew but the patient the most important person was never copied on the letter. Part of the letter contained a lie, that I had refused an examination - rubbish it was never offered, I have never refused treatment. No wonder they never copied me. Absolutely disgusting when you have a life threatening condition. Psychologically - my spirits could have been lifted a year earlier. They don't remove drains post 6pm, after you leave hospital. Even though the excellent nursing staff want to. Instead you have to go to A&E Stoke Mandeville where they give you a unnecessary drugs, x-rays, shove you on a trolley, leave you alone in a side room until the next day, unable to get to the toilet strapped in high up on a trolley, where nobody hears you when you shout. Treated like a piece of meat in the slaughter house. It was a two minute job with a pair of scissors for a junior nurse. Next time i'll remove it myself.
