Arrived at A & E at 3.45 p.m. on Tuesday 24th January having fallen off a ladder and badly fractured my wrist. I was dealt with quickly at the reception desk and waited about 15 mins before being dealt with by a triage nurse. Her manner was both brisk and sympathetic - I was swiftly despatched to x-ray where the staff quickly diagnosed a bad break requiring manipulation and plastering. At all times I was kept informed of my condition and options and was attended by a trainee junior doctor accompanied by a senior A & E doctor, together with a staff nurse and the plasterer, Terry. Whilst undergoing a fairly traumatic process of manipulation of the limb, the professional and caring approach demonstrated by all staff reassured me and made the experience bearable together with a liberal dose of entanox! Our beleaguered NHS needs people to speak up for the hardworking, dedicated staff and show appreciation where it is due. Thank you for the support and expertise shown to me.
