I was not happy to be in hospital with an infection as I had been complaining about the pain in my knee on and off since the total knee replacement in May last year but my anxieties had been ignored. It hurt to put weight on my knee after I had been walking for a few hundred yards. On one occasion a colleague of Mr Thakur suggested I rub Voltarol on it. However, the staff on the ward were brilliant and I saw many examples of very good practice with regard to older and less able patients. Feeding, drinking and checking for sores were all carried out by the book. I felt safe but able to express concerns if I needed to. Cleaning seemed to be carried out regularly and thoroughly. I am about to get my 'going home' drugs after a long wait. That is one thing that could be improved. So I will get to the end now.
