The medieval conditions in the waiting room desperately need improving. We had a two hour wait (for a serious condition we were told should be treated urgently) with a child who is desperately uncomfortable and vomiting frequently. If there was and other way of getting medical help more quickly I would have taken it. The waiting room is dark, cramped, and there was a television showing a program about people with terrible medical problems. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. However when we got the other side of the door, the care was excellent. Car parking at the hospital is designed to create anxiety. You have to know how long you are going to be at the hospital BEFORE you buy the ticket. How stupid is that. No one knows how long they are going to be there for. I spent £12 over a 24 hour period, but the worst aspect was keeping an eye on the clock so I could go and buy another ticket before the money ran out. This is something I do NOT want to have to worry about when a loved one is ill. Sort it out.
