My father was taken into A&E via an ambulance. The paramedics were excellent in every way. The ambulance was timely, they were thorough, kind and knowledgeable and the transfer was flawless. Once in A&E the Dr was excellent and it was a busy, fast paced environment but ran impeccably. They ordered all the blood work, scans etc and later was transferred to ward 8 AMU. The ward was busy and full of patients who had transferred from A&E. There's a front desk with the Doctor's and nurses for the ward. The problem is that you can hear them discussing patient files and also general chit chat and it's very noisy. The consultant comes with a team of Doctors. My fathers consultant was ok but many in his team were excellent. All conversations with other patients can be heard including the end of life ones and I didn't feel the particular one I overheard was dealt with sensitivity. I think the privacy problem is the greatest especially as the patients are mostly elderly. Of all the nurses Dad had a couple were ok, one was bad and mostly they were excellent. There was only one health care assistant. In the main If the Dr had just been in requesting a drip it would be done immediately but regular medication took time. There's a "handover hour" when no work gets done and patients are left. They were incredibly short staffed. There's no showers in the ward for patients who are staying for a few days or a week. There's a "day room" with a couple of chairs.. nothing more. The kitchen staff were not great often missing out on asking the patient if he needed a drink. The ward was ok clean not immaculate which is surprising given the close proximity of the patients and how sick the patients are. Bed sheets changing etc was only carried out if asked. The car parking is pricey for visitors and if you're sat by the patients Bedside all day there isn't the volunteer trolley that reaches you. I wish there was a way to at least get tea come round. Overall my father was diagnosed and treated so we cannot complain though I wouldn't like to be ill and in the hospital.

I believe the staff at Wexham have a constant battle to provide an excellent service in woeful surroundings. The waiting room was dirty and littered. The doorbell to the children's A&E area was not working, so patients had to let other patients in. There was no information once you entered the room to tell you what to do.

I brought my child into A&E where there were waiting times of 3.5 to 4 hours. However, my little boy went immediately to a children's emergency section and was seen within a few minutes and treated a few minutes after that. Excellent nurses and doctor. Couldn't ask for more. Glad we were not in the adult A&E as that looked a nightmare.

The male receptionist and the triage nurse were exceptional.

I was treated extremely well in the Cardio ward and the staff were very good and welcoming. Made a little frightening day into a very easy and good day. Staff were so nice.
