I was recently referrd to the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh to have a pituitary tumour removed. My initial consultation was with Mr Patrick Stathem, I found him to be a superb, understanding consultant who took time to listen and discuss all the "pros and cons" of having the operation and what to expect during and after my operation. No question was silly to him and every question I asked was answered. Mr Rob Sutherland, another dedicated member of a superb team at the WGH. Mr Sutherland took time out to meet with me during my pre-op to discuss various anesthetic methods would be suitable for me during my operation. I was completly put at ease, everything was explained thouroughly before my operation and again my questions were all answered. I can give nothing but praise for a superb team of dedicated professionals at WGH, from Mr Stathem, Dr Rob Sutherland, the theater staff and nurses. I cannot fault any part of the care / after care and attention I received during my stay with them. We all so often take the NHS for granted and it is not untill you need their help, expertise and assistance that we realise how fortunate we are to have such truly dedicated, professionals who go the extra mile to make a difference and give you the care and attention you need. Well done Western General Hospital, Edinburgh
