Overnight stay following surgery. You needed to ask for pain relief before you needed it being you rarely got it until an hour or two later. Care assistants were great, they did the observations mostly. I rarely saw a qualified nurse. My drip ran through at 7 and despite informing the nurse, who said she'd be back, it wasn't changed dealt with until 10.30 when night staff were doing the drug round. Buzzers went for an age during the day but they were too bust moving lockers etc to answer them. I went home at 4 pm after asking when I could go. Drs saw me post op and my surgery but nurses didn't. I was given medications to take home but had to ask about what to do about my five dressings. They disappeared then returned with five more. I'd had gastric surgery and a Hiatus hernia repaired and was not given any dietary advice on leaving. I joined Internet forums to find that out. Wasn't really I'mpressed with the nursing care to be honest. Found everything out by trial and error. Night nurses were much more efficient. Natasha especially, F5
