I went to Stourside for my consultations and to Halesowen for my operation. Both were spotlessly clean & staff friendly. The anaesthesist team were great, it was my first time in hospital and they made me feel very relaxed. I had my hysterectomy on 30/01/24, the nurse who looked after me on the night I had my operation was an absolutely angel, she was so kind, caring and cheerful. Sadly I can't remember her name, but a huge thankyou to her. My only complaint was before my op. I was admitted at 12.30pm. I was shown to my room, seen by Mr Muammar, anaesthesist, physio & kitchen lady, all were friendly, caring & lovely. Then my admission nurse did all the necessary tests etc. At 1.45 pm my husband, who was waiting downstairs, asked if he could come to my room, as I was now just waiting for op, he was told he couldn't as I was about to go down to surgery. THREE hrs later, I was still alone in my room, hadn't seen my nurse since 1.30, and no idea why my husband was told I was about to go to surgery at 1.45pm. My nurse only came to tell me what was happening at 4.45pm after my husband had phoned to see what was going on. I eventually went to surgery at 5pm. I hadn't been allowed water for 2 hours prior to admission, so since 10.30 I hadn't had a sip of water, if my surgery was 5pm then surely I could have have some water up until 3pm. That was my only complaint about the whole process, if I had been kept informed & my husband been allowed to wait with me as I was told he could, then the service would have been 100%. The service I received the night of and the day after my operation was exceptional, can't fault anything post op and on discharge. Lovely staff and lovely food but sadly I had no appetite to do it justice. Thank you
