I was water intoxicated at this hospital as the catheter attached to me did not work and I was given huge amounts of water to drink. I lost control of my limbs and speech. The pain was excruciating and things around me were blurry. Yet, my husband's pleads to check the catheter fell on deaf ears. The receptionist insisted it was the side effect of the general anaesthetic given earlier. Eventually he brought the nurse who inserted the catheter and she took it out only to unleash the buckets of water from inside me that flooded the bedding and the floor. Very embarrassing and left me with overactive bladder for the rest of my life.
All the nurses were rude and judgemental apart from one lovely student nurse who was not yet corrupted my the system.
