I gave birth in the labour ward although I had planned to go to the bluebell birth centre which was close that day due shortage of staff. All the midwives were amazing; they were very supportive, caring and helpful. However, they were clearly very busy, with many parents and babies to attend to.

Suggested improvements
My birth put me through a lot of pain, although normal, it was unnecessary and cruel the waiting time for the doctor to come and prescribe me the pain relief medication (remi). After getting stuck at 9cm dilation and getting out of the birthing pool, I had to wait hours for the doctor. I was told we were waiting for the doctor to approve the medication, this took hours and I was out of control in pain. Please get more staff so that other women don't endure so many hours of pain waiting to be seen and heard. The staff in the hospital is amazing at their job but need more support, more doctors, more midwives. They are clearly understaffed and that is dangerous!
