I am sn NHS worker and we are all stretched to the limit.Just one problem 7 hours is a long wait after a fall.

Absolutely marvellous attention from a variety of people and in and out within two hours. Can’t praise everyone enough, including the paramedics.

I understand the department is currently under pressure but I attended with chest pain and a HR of 135/145. I am on ADHD medication which can cause heart issues. I felt the reception staff (not all of them) a female in particular were quite rude and Uncompassionate to some of the Patients. There is no sense of urgency at all. A lady who looked terribly ill in my opinion in a wheel chair pale and writhing in pain and should have been taken straight through and she ended up collapsing in the waiting area to which staff then ran out and took her straight through. A man who was elderly approached the desk advising he thought he was having a stroke and his speech was not right and said his side was numb, he was told to take a seat! I was disgusted to be honest! A suspected stroke should be seen as priority and the campaigns regarding stroke is to act FAST. 20 mins later he was still sat there before I decided to leave. I was there for 7 hours with no updates and eventually self discharged as it was 1am and I had been there since 6pm and was told there was still 7 patients before me. I still have had no follow up. I appreciate waiting times are bad at the minute but I feel that the reception staff need further training on when to escalate a visibly poorly patient to the nurse in charge rather than making them take a seat and them deteriorating. I appreciate they are admin staff but there needs to be something in place to visably triage these patients prior to being actually triaged. I would not attend in future if I was very poorly as I would be frightened that I would not be taken seriously enough

A And E looks tired and a bit dirty. Waiting times and administrative set ups are both lengthy and far from effective. Things need someone to stand look at the systems.. far too long to do simple tasks

Have a better system for hand overs from an ambulance crew. Why not on line? The crew waited 90 minutes just to report on the obs Do what you said you would do .Don’t forget what you were supposed to do. Keep patients informed We were waiting to see a consultant for six hours who was expecting us then we were told she had gone home..but two minutes later she turned up, none too pleased with the chaos in A and E. Better systems would free up staff and get things moving. Surely not all patients have to come throughA and E? We knew we had to see a consultant who was expecting us but we still went through the standard procedure which was a waste of everyone’s time.
