Good point - Mandy and Sheila (I think that was her name) absolute credits to the ward Bad points - Blood loss - not told how much blood lost during labour. 3 litres, this resulted in me needing a transfusion. I was not told this until I asked to leave the ward. When were they planning to let me know¿ Jaundice - my son developed jaundice. I was not given any explanation as to what this meant or that due to my blood loss and subsequent enimia that my milk would be insufficient, therefore prolonging the issue. I was told on day 5 of treatment. No plan was put in place until after I complained to PALS. Better communication regarding cause, affect and care are needed. Anxiety - as a sufferer of anxiety disorder for 15 years I was less than impressed that this was merely dismissed as “baby blues”. After what I feel was a traumatic labour, given that my son required treatment and that I was in a strange environment, I dont feel that correct approach was given at all. My mental health is something that is extremely precious to me and is something that I have worked on and struggled with for many years. Mental health training is desperately required. Mandy and Sheila were the only ones to show an ounce of compassion in this area.
