I was diagnosed with Epilepsy in April last year and my care was transfered to this "hospital", in over 12 months I think I've been to the actual hospital itself maybe 2-3 times at the most. My Dr is practically useless and has no involvment or interest in me whatsoever, every time I attempt to ring up to speak to someone I get passed from one department to another, all of them saying that "it's not something we do, but try this department instead". The last time I called I was on the phone for over half an hour without actually speaking to the person I needed to talk to, I gave up in the end.
Having a telephone appointment once every blue moon is no good at all if they still haven't managed to get my medication right, utterly disgusted.
I found the staff all very friendly and helpful.
It was very beneficial to have everything fully and clearly explained to me prior to the procedure.
I live in the Midlands and the Walton Centre is one of only a few places in the country where focussed ultrasound treatment is carried out on the NHS for people with an essential tremor. So although I had to travel for my appointments and treatments, it was well worth attending this specialist neurology hospital. Appointments were made for me that took my necessary travel arrangements into consideration. I received excellent care from Dr Panicker (neurologist), Mr Farah (surgeon), and all the experts and nursing staff and clerical staff too. The whole team made the assessments, the pre op and other tests (Psychology) as painless as possible. In terms of physical pain during the procedure, the anaesthetist was excellent and I didn't feel a thing during the procedure. I would also like to thank the nurse who shaved my head for being friendly and caring too. I was told during my consultations that, as my tremors were "off the scale in severity" that I couldn't expect to be tremor free in the treated hand and subsequently some of my tremor has returned. So I appreciate this honesty as it prepared me for the outcome. Even though some of my tremor has returned I would definitely do it again as the Walton Centre really is a centre of excellence. I thoroughly recommend this hospital.
The walton centre is an excellent hospital, I am very lucky to receive such great care each and every time I visit
Everyone was really kind and put you as easy as much as anyone can before and during a procedure
Excellent hospital with dedicated staff
On every visit to the The Walton Centre it was always very caring experience. From the minute of being collected from Dotty ward by two lovely ladies who chattered to me all the way to the pre-operation area, they continued to chat to me until I was taken into the next area.
The staff who prepared me for the procedure were wonderful. I cannot thank Mr Jibril Osman-Farah and his team enough for the very good care.
From initial consultation with consultant neurologist Mr Jay Panicker, then to the consultant Neurosurgeon Mr Jibril Osman- Farah who would perform the MRI Guided focused ultrasound Thalomotomy, to suppress my essential tremor. The treatment I received was excellent, the whole Deep Brain simulation (DBS) team and Jefferson ward nursing staff were amazing in their care. The whole experience was professionally carried out from start to finish, and this operation has changed my life. The Walton Centre and staff have been fantastic and I would recommend this treatment to other people who suffer with Essential Tremor . A Big Thank you to the whole team.
