Attended Ward 22 in Coventry today 15/1/23 at 0830hrs with 91yr old father with nasty abscess that needed urgent surgery. EVERY single member of staff we dealt with, from the young man and nurse who signed us onto Ward 22 to the nurse who checked over my father and talked us through the process to the Surgeon himself, his Nursing Physicians and the Nurse who signed us out with Meds and report - were all attentive intelligent professional kind informative reassuring polite caring and efficient. EXCELLENT. It is the administrative structure of the NHS, the centralisation/ closure of A&E wards, the part time GP surgeries only open daytime 4.5 days a week and 111 (who are risk averse and send everyone to A&E - in an ambulance) - who are bringing the NHS down. Ultimately the Government - need to spend time on the ground talking to staff - not in their Westminster offices - to understand where the problems lie, because it is certainly not with their underpaid overworked and dedicated NHS hospital staff and Ambulance Service.
