We have spent time in all 3 Wellington hospitals. Platinum Medical Centre - great, new, clean, efficient, friendly staff, very good food and care. Lots of regular nurses Wellington South - used the scanning facilities here and unfortunately acute admissions twice. It was fine. Not the place we wanted to spend too long and one shouldn't. Wellington North - lot of time spent here for surgery and post surgery on 2 occasions. Theatre staff and ITU fabulous. The rest of our time is mixed. Food not great at all. Nurses overnight are more often than not agency nurses so a lack of continuity of care when in for 3 weeks post op. Quality and experience far lower than the lucky times where we had permanent hard working nurses. Rooms getting tired. Heating only works some of the time. Nurses were freezing during January throughout the night. Very shocked by lack of information provided before leaving, to the point we were given none and should have been given very specific dietary advice. No surprise we ended back up in there a few weeks later. The experts are fabulous but the nursing care is pot luck.
