Today (30/10/18) we arrived for mum's op appt to receive results and recent gynae investigation and hear if for a procedure or to start chemo. Also needed to request plan emailed to anticoag specialist (on his request) Mum travelled from Esher on train for yesterday's appt and I (dgt) drove her up today, paid for parking etc. When in waiting room at 11:50 approx (12 pm appt) Shona (admin manager) informed us appt cancelled as 2* consultants made to run their clinics so only 1* consultant and repstrass due to energy and cost attending. We requested we wait instead of going as there is also psych impact of being kept 'in limbo' without test results communication. We know from the past, these won't be given over the telephone (even though we'd be happy with us) We know situation today was unavoidable as admin manager did not have sufficient time to call us to cancel before we started our journey, and sorry that I * consultant had extra appts to absorb the extended clinic time. Shona kindly provided us with sandwiches and was very apologetic and we are grateful for her kindness and consultant making time to see mum on a day with staff shortages.
