I would never in my life recommend this hospital to anyone. I was placed on the CAMHS (young people) ward when I was 17. I was placed on the High Dependency Unit (HDU) also known as Upper Court. I can honestly say that this was the worst hospital I have ever been in. The lack of patient safety and care is worrying. There's a serious lack of staff and most of the staff that work there are run off their feet with no breaks and can be left to deal with dangerous situations on their own. The staff either used physical restraint when unnecessary. But often left certain patients to do whatever they wanted to themselves. If a patient seriously injured themselves then there was a lack of medical attention. Patients are left to bang their heads on the wall and there were often blood stains on the walls left for days or even weeks. Staff gossip with each other in front of patents and even gossip to patients about other patients on the ward, which is a serious breach of safeguarding. There is very limited therapy and activities during the day. Patients are kept on the ward for an excessive amount of time. For example another patient I was on the ward with was admitted 2 years before and had remained in the Priory since. There is very limited ventilation in the summer and they even keep the heating on in the summer too
