I stayed on Bernard Sunley Ward the male ward and in recovery over night- the recovery nurses are amazing- Chloe and Nerisa- such expert care and skills, especially when I suffered hypoxia, there responses were instant and reassuring. The ward was spacious, but it wasnt the most relaxing place to recover, lights too bright to really sleep and all of us pushed into one part of the ward, maybe due to urgent care? The food was good and the staff attentive though too many bank staff passing like ships in the night and noted the day staff more attentive than the night who could be heard laughing together throughout the night nearby. It was easy to feel forgotten about during the night. I must also note one of the nurses failed to pass on urgent info to night staff about my need for oxygen- I assume this as I had to tell them the kind of mask I needed to avoid hypoxia again- this was dangerous and shouldnt have happened and made me feel even more vulnerable. Shout out to Achtar a nurse who was lovely and Thando who was like an angel sent to encourage me- there was one bank nurse who though very competent, was also quite unprofessional and rude to patients and colleagues alike. I would encourage seniors not to have her back, as she did spoil the atmosphere somewhat. Other than this I was happy with the care I received and overall attentiveness.
