I attended The Manor Hospital as an out patient for a consultation with a doctor. I was not greeted with a friendly smile though this in itself is not really my concern. I had sent documents appertaining to my consultation that would be required by the doctor. They were sent by Post Office Special Delivery so I was able to track them and to see that they had been signed for. It's a good thing that I used this service because the staff at reception (again hardly a glimmer of a smile) trtied to say that they had not received them. It was only when I actually showed them the signature and the name of the person that signed for them that they capitulated although they continued to pretend that they did not know the person who had signed. After some internal calls, the envelope was eventually tracked down and it was absolutely clear that no attempt had been made to ensure that the doctor received the documents. This was my first, and hopefully my only visit to the Manor and I would not be able to recommend it to anyone. The Manor is a private hospital and so my expectations were very high. Apart from the actual consultation itself, which was very professional and helpful, my expectations were not met. My opinion is that the reception staff require complete retraining and proper regular appraisal to maintain standards of customer service.
