Very attentive and caring nursing staff, physiotherapists, pharmacists as well as catering staff.
The ward sister however was quite unpleasant and keen for me to vacate my room early the day after surgery despite my consultant telling me to take my time and to stay another night should I feel the need. Having had a general anaesthetic and back surgery, I wasn’t feeling up to rushing home, my husband not being available to help me until later in the afternoon. The sister suggested they would help me put my bag in a cab. How I was supposed to get home on my own, go up 3 flights of stairs with a bag, having been told not to lift anything over 1 kilo, I don’t know. She really caused me undue distress. I did in the end wait until my husband was able to collect me, as I found her demands quite unreasonable and offensive.
