Firstly I would like to thank both Mr Pillia and Mr Heasley the two consultant who performed the two operations I have recently had. I can not praise the hospital staff enough right from the receptionist and porters on arrival, to the nurses who gave the most fantastic professional aftercare, not forgetting the kitchen staff who brought me a freshly made sandwich and pot of tea. I could not fault anything, every single member of staff were outstanding. The care / treatment I received was first class. I really cant praise them enough for all their hard work during this difficult time. Nothing was too much trouble. I have now had 3 operations at Highfield and would highly recommend this hospital to anyone thinking of going private. First class professional service, care treatment and staff.
I went in for elective surgery in August 2020.
The care provided by staff was very good, overall.
However, nurses should be aware that patients can overheard their conversations whilst they are at the front desk during the night (even with the door closed).
Conversations regarding patients' personal appearances and choice of how to wear their hair is none of the concern of the nurses. I found this rather rude, derogatory and a clear indication of not understanding different cultures.
Other than the above narrow minded, the care was great.
I went to Highfield expecting first class care but that wasn’t the case prof Thomas was a complete waste of time aswell as mr Pillia who was shocking felt totally let down by Highfield as soon as you raise a complaint they close ranks strongly advise to go there privately as they are full with NHS patients it was a worse experience than Oldham hospital.i have used private hospitals before and can honestly say it was the worst care and treatment I have recieved and strongly advise people to stay away from this hospital no words can describe the way I was treated I’m still angry even though 4 years have passed disgraceful staff
I recently had surgery here and the care was absolutely outstanding. The hospital is small but perfectly formed with great staff and facilities. Every single person that i had any dealings with was very friendly and helpful. Everybody knows that going to hospital is a daunting thing weather its elective or not but I can honestly say the Highfield have got it right. I wasn't worried about covid as they seemed to be well prepared and organised which was reassuring.
I would recommend the highfield. Thank you for looking after me
My 82 year old mother was due to have a hip replaced at this hospital, but I deeply suspect (although cannot prove it) that the hospital found an excuse not to do the operation as she was not a private paying patient. Everything was going well until her Pre-op (2-3 weeks ago) when a rather abrupt assessment nurse took her blood pressure by putting the cuff over my mothers cardigan sleeve (which was over a blouse) and tried saying that she has very high blood pressure and the operation could not be done unless this was sorted out by her doctor. Her own GP managed to see my mother very quickly, checked the pressure in the correct way and said that it was perfectly normal and no additional treatment was required.
This information was passed back to the Highfield. Then, on the afternoon of the day before her admittance, she was called and told that the operation was cancelled due to supposed abnormalities in her blood iron levels. On contacting the GP again about this, my mother was told that they had looked at the information sent by the hospital and her iron levels were no different than they normally were and no additional treatment is required for her.
In light of this the GP is now having to re-refer my mother to another hospital, this time NHS run, which could leave her for up to 18 weeks longer of excruciating pain and not being able to walk properly. This is why I strongly suspect that the hospital did not want to treat my mother as she was not a fee paying patient and used any excuse to prevent it from happeing.
Thanks Highfield for NOTHING apart from leaving her in pain for the next 18 weeks and ruining what was going to be her first pain free holiday in years which will not have to be cancelled!!
Unfortunately I am still waiting for a follow up appointment to discuss the results of my tests.
Despite sending several emails to the Director of Clinical Services I still have not received a response.
Very poor communication.
Very friendly and professional staff who put me at ease during my recent stay
Very friendly and helpful staff
Exceptionally clean, caring staff and the highest standard of care.
Excellent care in what feels like a small and caring hospital. All staff are keen to help and willing to explain anything you need to know.
