Ophthalmology: In June and again in August this year I had cataracts removed from both my eyes. At my first appointment, I saw a nurse who explained the procedure. I then waited a short time before seeing the surgeon who gave me a booklet entitled "What is a Cataract?", (which I read prior to my first cataract removal). The surgeon explained in detail what was involved in the operation and within a week I had my first cataract removed. I must admit that even with all the information to hand, I was rather nervous - but not so for the second. Admittedly, your eye is numbed but you are still very aware of everything. After the operation you are taken in a wheelchair to the waiting area and given a lovely cup of tea and biscuit. I remember one of the nurses said that after the operation everyone comes out smiling and I did. Tetbury is such a lovely, quiet and friendly hospital and I couldn't praise them enough. The surgeon and his team were brilliant and the nurses were so kind and professional and put everyone at ease. You will feel a new person afterwards and I now only need glasses for reading!
