I attended A&E following a fall. The nurse pressed her fingers down my leg, avoiding the obvious swelling on the lower right side of my ankle and informed me it wasn't broken, despite me informing her that I clearly heard a break. I was then sent to the minor injuries unit, where upon X-ray and examination I had broken my fibula. I do not have a problem as such with this, however, I am a nurse and if I don't know what department to attend when I've had an accident then how do you expect the general public to know. If A&E is intended to be a major trauma unit then this need to be made clear. I am also concerned that diagnosis is being made under very poor clinical observation. On a slightly different note, I feel it is a very poor survey that asks if you would recommend a service that has no competition.
