Friendly and professional staff. Short waiting time. The general layout of the building is somewhat confusing and signage does seem to be in need of improving.
Staff caring and thorough. They have made every effort to resolve my problems effectively and permanently. Most impressed.
I recently had to pay a £42 fine to the parking company even though I had paid parking in full. As I had not taken the precaution of keeping my parking tickets. Is there any chance you can agree a flat fee (as with Hartlepool hospital) for parking so that patients are covered no matter how long their visit to A&E?
Very prompt triage. Nurse efficient, pleasant and helpful.
More seats perhaps. Nearly every patient has at least 1 companion.
It's a pity that one has to pay for car parking outside of "office hours".
My first visit to the Eye Hospital, attended regarding a retinal issue. I was dealt with efficiently, and felt very cared for. Comprehensive testing done, and it was great to receive a full and understandable explanation of what was happening with my eyes.
I found the staff to be very friendly and reassuring. Very happy with the first class service. Waiting times on that day were around 1.5 hours in total which I didn't feel was bad at all.
Very relaxed and organised.
The very pleasant interactions with each of the nurses I met was very good. That said the receptionist I met with at the beginning and again at the end when I asked for a time to fix a check up appointment needs help. Perhaps, in staff training, if someone demonstrated how off -putting a detached, formal, impersonal interview can be? Everyone can have off days of course and I am sure the lady's job is a difficult one. I feel the receptionist person who handled my arrival and departure didn't treat me like a worthwhile fellow human. In every other respect I think that Sunderland Emergency eye care is excellent.
Persuading the Post office Telephone service to repair their pay-phone in the lobby would be a good idea too.
I saw Mark Robinson on 15th November. He examined my eyes, including the right eye to make sure it was ok, even though my problem was in the left eye. He was extremely thorough and professional. The problem was diagnosed as Irisitis, and he then made an extensive examination of all the other parts of my eyes. He explained what he was doing as he went along and made me feel very relaxed. I was very happy with the care and attention shown to me. I was seen after 2 hours in the waiting room. Considering the large number of 'walk-in' patients it shows that the staff are extremely hard working, but do not cut corners in the quality of care.
I attended the Eye Infirmary as an emergency. I was warned that there would be a long wait as it was after 5pm and there was only one doctor on duty in the department. I was seen rapidly for screening and drops were administered. The wait was so long that when I saw the doctor I had to have a lot more applications of drops for her to examine my eye. My eye was very thoroughly examined and I was given an information leaflet about what had caused the problem and told what to do if I had further problems.
Staff were all very courteous and efficient and another doctor (I believe a consultant) arrived to see patients and the very busy waiting room began to clear more quickly. As a retired NHS CEO, I am well aware that there will be waits in A&E and the quality of care provided is what mattered most to me.
I am struggling to remember the exact date I attended, but have provided my best recollection.
I can't fault the quality, speed and the professionalism of the service I received.
Both the triage nurse and the nurse practitioner were friendly and helpful
Thank you
The staff were kindly and reassuring.
Some indication of approximate waiting times would help alleviate extra anxiety about parking.
