I attended the emergency eye unit at St Thomas’s hospital yesterday morning as I had concerns regarding my eye following surgery performed elsewhere around a month previously. Being away from home for the Christmas holidays I did not have access to my eye consultant. The lady on reception ( Linda) was very efficient and we were seen by the triage nurse very quickly indeed - I wish I could remember her name as she was exceptional. When she realised I had raised pressure in my operated eye I was passed onwards for scans and eye tests and waited less than 10 minutes to see a practitioner ( Sanjeev) who explained what was wrong and prescribed the appropriate medication. I’m pleased to say that less than 24 hours later the pain has virtually gone. Each step of the process was clearly explained and even with a slight delay to collect medication, the whole process took less than 90 minutes.. With service like this who can possibly complain about the level of service and care provided by the NHS
