The care in the day surgery unit was excellent. However my issue is with the management insisting that urology use cheap/poor quality ureteral stents - this was my 3rd in 5 1/2 months because the previous 2 had not lasted the distance. Fortunately Mr Ochai was able to secure some better quality stents for me. Using cheap stents is a false economy for both the NHS and myself. As a result of the stents not lasting I had several periods when I did not feel well enough to work and hence was not contributing to HMRC and my quality of life was seriously impacted. And there is the extra cost of 2 extra operations.
