My dad went in on May 15th 2020. He had stomach cancer and was very alert and happy to go in as he wanted to be given a drip to help hydrate him.he went in on the Friday, we visited again on Saturday he was well and wanted to come home for Eid. However we realised that the doctors were not giving his medicine or nebuliser which my dad needs twice a day. We told the doctors and they said they would do that for us. Sunday we went in my dad was unresponsive drugged up on loads of morphine which we asked not to be given unless he was in pain. My dad spoke Bengali and no English so the staff there had given him it regardless. Sunday after I visit I called and asked if he had waken since our visit at 2 and if he had eaten. The women said he had ate a big bowl of cornflakes that morning and he was eating and drinking fine. I called again around 8 a different nurse said to me his very poorly he hasn’t woken up all day and is not responding to us. At this point it didn’t make sense because when we visited he was unresponsive so I knew the first nurse had just lied to me. At around 10pm we received a call that my dad was poorly so we ran in to see him. His glass was in the same place we left it and everything was untouched including my dads phone. No one had been in to see my dad at all he had dried tears by his eyes and everything was in its place. The morphine box was stuck under my dads leg which had bruised from being there. From 2-10pm if a nurse had taken care of him why was everything how it was and the morphine box below my dad? Should they not be checking this? later we realised my dad was not responding but breathing but too drugged up to open his eyes, his voice all slurred, my dad said they had left the window open all day and he feels cold. I spoke to the doctor about getting him home or allowing my family to visit him as they had promised when my dad first came, a nurse named Rose said we would have to wait till the morning. I said what if he doesn’t make it she replied “well he doesn’t make it then” and walked out. My sister then rang the reception and a male nurse answered and said “we were lucky they even called us and told us to come in, he wasn’t even serious”. The next day that morning my dad passed. This is place is disgusting my dad was unresponsive and yet they told us that we were lucky to be called? They make empty promises saying we would be told before hand and how they would let us be there. At the time of my dads death the doctor saw him and took us to a separate room saying they couldn’t let him go and a nurse had asked us to go back into the room. They knew he was dying yet NO ONE TOLD US. They changed him into a gown and called us when he had already died. What where they doing with the door closed? Why did we have to move away? I would trust this hospice as they lie through their teeth and have provided no support at all but rude comments and almost as if we should be grateful for them even thought they did NOTHING. I am horrified by this treatment and dread to think what they do to people with no family or visitors. Please think twice if you are Muslim about giving them to this hospice they practically kill off people and provide no help.
