I was admitted for review following a kidney infection that was not responding to treatment. I was taken to a ward in excruciating pain and told I could have no pain relief until a doctor had seen me. No doctor came, 2 hours later after asking again several times I was moved to another ward again with no pain relief. After saying I was going to have to go home to get some pain relief as I just couldn’t take the pain anymore I was again moved to another ward. 4 hours in and still no pain relief, not even a paracetamol I was again told I had to wait for a doctor. When I asked when a doctor might be available I was told it could be another “few hours” even though I was crying and curled up in pain. The nurse went to get a doctor and he said I’d just have to wait more. So even though I could barely walk and I was on my own I left the hospital and went home alone in a taxi to get pain relief. I’ve had to self medicate and use google to check for signs of sepsis myself. Shocking care, I’m disgusted at being treated this, won’t be back to this hospital even though it’s 5 miles from my house I’ll be going to 20 miles to the next nearest.
